Springboard Programme: FutureChef BakeOff

Reece entered our FutureChef BakeOff competition when he was fourteen, looking to expand his skill set, and showcase his talent. Inspired by local, seasonal produce, Reece created a warming spiced poached pear and fig crème pâtissier tart, with a spiced shortcrust pastry, and red wine glaze. This was served with a mascarpone cream, spiced wine gel and toasted hazelnuts.
Having heard about the competition through a family member and doing his own research about the opportunities it could open to him, Reece jumped at the chance to be involved. Taking part in our first ever virtual competition, he found the enrolment form and online uploading system easy to navigate.
Following on from his success in the competition, Reece has been offered a scholarship on a specialised chef course, which he hopes will be the start of his career in this field. Looking forward, Reece is excited to hone his skills, and explore his talents as he navigates the diverse hospitality industry.
