Amelia was 15 when she entered FutureChef BakeOff, after hearing about the competition from her hospitality teacher in school. Reminiscing on a dish she enjoyed frequently when visiting Hong Kong, Amelia chose to create a fruit tart, with a cake on top, decorated with cream and seasonal fruits and berries.
Amelia found inspiration for her cake in the changing seasons; moving from a cold and dull winter, she wanted to demonstrate the new life of spring, and the optimism she felt about COVID-19 restrictions easing. Amelia was inspired by flowers and pollinators such as butterflies when decorating her cake, and she wanted it to serve as a reminder to enjoy the nature around us and do our part to keep our environment clean.
Using her skills and confidence she built upon within the FutureChef BakeOff competition, Amelia intends to explore her talent, and palate, in the future, trying new ingredients and recipes, and creating dishes that are unique and nutritious.
