pladis, the global snacking company behind some of the UK’s most loved and iconic brands including McVitie’s, Jacob’s and Flipz has announced the winners of this year’s Springboard UK #FlipzBakez National School Baking Competition.
pladis teamed up with Springboard UK’s Future Chef competition to challenge school pupils across the nation to get creative in the kitchen and create a Flipz inspired bake for a chance of winning a range of exciting prizes.
The winning bake came from 14-year-old Reece Bosowitz and his incredible Salted Caramel and Chocolate Ganache Tart, with white chocolate Flipz fudge and salted caramel Flipz ice cream.
Over 100 pupils aged between 12 and 16 entered the competition to create a delicious and original bake using Flipz as one of the ingredients.
The winner, Reece, received an entrance to a GAME Belong Party. Runners up prizes included 5x wireless head sets and 10x Flipz snack boxes.
Scott Snell, vice president sales, UK & Ireland, pladis says: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Springboard for this year’s Future #Chef competition. It’s important to us to continue to inspire the next generation of talented chefs and support the hospitality industry during these difficult times. It’s been a pleasure seeing everyone’s brilliant entries and we are so impressed by their imagination and ability to bring Flipz to life! We are excited to see what this year brings for these talented chefs-to-be.”
Amanda McDade, Head of Careers and Education at Springboard: adds: “Springboard’s FutureChef was delighted to partner with pladis to launch the FlipzBakez Challenge that saw 118 very talented young people from 12-16 year olds enter their creations. The competition standard was very high and each participant created something truly incredible using Flipz which made the judging quite a tough one. Every entrant should be proud of their achievement and we hope to see them participating in other challenges in the future.”
Springboard is futureproofing the talent pipeline for hospitality, helping unemployed and young people of all backgrounds to fall in love with hospitality and gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the industry. Their renowned FutureChef competition is the largest National School cooking programme in the UK, engaging over 700 schools and 16,000 students each year.
