Following from last month’s story of Kaimes School in Edinburgh’s Mini Springboard FutureChef Bake-Off competition, we wanted to share some more good news!

Last week, Kaimes School, a school who support young people with additional support needs, hosted their own FutureChef Jnrs BakeOff Competition! Competing alongside other ASN/SEN schools in their area, students from Kaimes met with students from Pilrig Park and Woodlands School to comprise the upwards of 50 competitors!

Coming out on top, 14-year-old Kaimes student Jack was selected by a panel of judges as the overall winner. The budding chef conducted himself very professionally during the competition and displayed a lot of independence throughout. His winning bake was some beautiful red velvet cupcakes, which he expertly piped with icing, and added fresh Scottish raspberries to garnish.

The judging panel was comprised of culinary experts from Edinburgh College, Grassmarket Community Café, and Scran Academy. The event was supported by DYW Edinburgh.

The winning student was presented with their winners certificate and a cookbook courtesy of Springboard FutureChef. The winner and runners up also received prizes which had been kindly donated from local organisations.

Kaimes School are excited to continue working with FutureChef next year and expand their mini competitions to more ASN/SEN schools in their local area!

The Springboard FutureChef Team are delighted to see our resources being used in a way that allows students of all ages and abilities to take part and explore their own culinary skills!
