Springboard FutureChef has adapted to our changing environment to support teachers and educators in the classroom with industry based, curriculum aligned competitions and modules matched to the food-related curriculum, to support students with skills and knowledge. The FutureChef Programme is delivered through 2 different elements, FutureChef Jnrs. and FutureChef Competition.

FutureChef Jnrs (inc. FutureChef BakeOff)

(England & Wales Yr 7/8, Scotland S1/2, Northern Ireland Yr 8/9) 

FutureChef Jnrs is an introduction to food, nutrition, and basic cooking. Our online modules include topics such as nutrition, food hygiene, knife skills and recipes for Teachers and young people to access online to be used at home or in the classroom working through bronze silver and gold certified modules, as well as providing chef links into schools. These are all about injecting fun into cooking and getting young people engaged and building confidence and cooking skills.

This learning is supplemented by our exciting online competition, FutureChef BakeOff where students are invited to compete within their schools to create a Savoury Tart in the classroom and the winner submitting their entry to be judged Nationally to be crowned FutureChef BakeOff Champion 2025. For more information on FutureChef BakeOff, please email caitlinc@springboarduk.org.uk.

FutureChef Competition

(England & Wales Yr 9/10/11, Scotland S3/4/5, Northern Ireland Yr 10/11/12)

The FutureChef Competition allows pupils to learn about practical cookery and enhance their culinary skills along with building knowledge and helping them grow in confidence in the kitchen as they gain experience and progress through our 4 staged cooking competition at School, Local, Regional and National Final heats to be crowned FutureChef Champion 2025! Online modules and resources support students to develop their skills whilst working with industry chefs. The competition is designed to develop students cooking skills and allow them to show their creative side through food.

Introducing the competition in your school creates a focus and buzz around the hospitality/food dept as well as creating industry links with local chefs to support your curriculum and career progression for the pupils through advice and guidance on culinary career routes including further education and apprenticeship opportunities.

ASN/SEN Resources

The Springboard FutureChef programme has been adapted to be able to support students with any additional educational needs, and to encourage participation for those with a keen interest in cooking. With a suite of resources that can be accessed via our CareerScope portal (by following the sign up instructions above), these will support both you as the teacher in the classroom and the students participating. From adapted easy to follow recipes, to cue cards and competition criteria, your students can participate and learn culinary skills in a fun and creative way as well as show off their skills competing in a competition.
